ABOUT THE PROJECT
Created by the visionary team behind The Water of Life – A Whisky Film, this new series shines a light on a lesser-known, yet highly influential sector of the whisky world: Independent Bottlers. Initially planned as a companion piece to The Water of Life, Independent Spirits evolved into a comprehensive four-part series, capturing the creativity, passion, and craftsmanship that drive this sector of the industry.
We were part of a global team of editors tracing the history of independent bottlers. Our episode (Episode 3: Not a Proper Job) talked about the passion of independent bottlers and the pressure they’re under amidst massive shifts in the industry.
Creative Direction
A highlight of the editing experience was to create a profile about a specific independent bottler and the path he and his brother forged. We also created motion graphics to reinforce specific legal issues confronting the whisky industry. The episode concludes with a cliff-hanger announcement by one of the major independent bottlers.

We filmed across 3 different urban backdrops, incorporating elements of neon lighting, handheld camera movements, and slow-motion scenes to amplify the emotional core of the track. With a limited production window of 2 days, our team managed to maximize every frame using strategic lighting and dynamic camera setups.
